United Way exceeds goal!

The United Way of Williams County is pleased to announce that the campaign has exceeded its goal for the fifth straight year.

With some campaigns still in progress, pledges and contributions to date total $393,712. That amounts to 107.8 percent of the $365,000 goal and is another new record for dollars raised in Williams County. 32 local agencies will benefit from the appeal.

Thanks to Dave and Cindy Castor and the entire campaign team for their hard work on the campaign.

Note that donors who contributed $120 or more will be enrolled in the United Way Caring Club and will be sent their cards in late February.

Blizzard Day raises $1,600!
Blizzard Day for the United Way took place on Thursday, January 24, and generated $1,618.40 for the United Way of Williams County.

During this one day event, Pool's Dairy Queen donated all Blizzard® Treat proceeds (sale price minus cost of ingredients).

Thanks to everyone who participated, either by pre-purchasing coupons, or buying Blizzards that day. Everyone enjoyed them - just ask the staff of the Williams County YMCA (pictured below). And it was all for a good cause.

A reminder to anyone who purchased Blizzard® Treat coupons - you have until January 31, 2008 to redeem these for your Blizzard® treat.

Thanks to Mike and Beth Pool, Tootie and all the staff of the Bryan Dairy Queen for making this such a successful fund-raiser.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Libary
Dolly's Imagination Library is a unique gift to children created by the legendary Dolly Parton. Launched in 1996 in her Smokey Mountain homeland, the Imagination Library mails a free, hard cover, age appropriate book to every enrolled child under 5 in her community.

In 2001, she offered other communities the opportunity to replicate the Imagination Library. Local sponsors bring the program to their community by covering the cost of the books and mailing and enrolling as many of their children as possible. Today well over 600 communities join together to give millions of books to their preschoolers.

United Way of Williams County is proud to bring this program to Williams County. With donations from people all over the county, we are pleased that nearly 800 children are a part of this program.
